MK Can: Joining the World's Longest Line of Food Cans

CAN you believe it?! We’re officially Guinness World Record holders!   Monday 16th October 2023 saw the Milton Keynes community come together for a good cause: a world record attempt at the world’s longest line of food cans, presented by MK Food Bank at Campbell Park.   After a long day of standing in line, we’re pleased to have concluded the day with a total of 102,447 cans, beating the previous record – set in Canada in 2014 of 45,000 cans – by more than double!   We’re proud to have played just a small part in this, contributing a total of 377 cans to the line. Plus, we had a great time doing it, meeting so many local, like-minded people who are equally as passionate about giving back.   Find out more about our experience CRUSHING this record, plus all about MK Food Bank below.

MK Food Bank

Due to the ongoing cost of living crisis, many more families have become dependent on food banks, with demand rising at MK Food Bank by almost 40% during the first half of 2023 compared to the same period as last year.

As such, MK Food Bank now needs a minimum of 4,500 food items every single day, £530 in cash and 55 volunteer hours to operate, reliant heavily on community support to reach their targets.

What better way to secure supply than by pulling off the world record for the longest line of food cans? That’s where MK Can comes in, with a total collection that’ll provide more than HALF of the canned food that MK Food Bank needs for the entire year, helping them to continue to help thousands of families in need.

MK Can

The event itself saw a fantastic turnout. Around 100 businesses, 20 schools, 30 churches and faith groups, 50 community organisations and 25 charities jumped on board.

Altogether, we stacked, counted, and packed our way to a Guinness World Record, using a plethora of cans from various food groups to line Campbell Park.
