Bolts made of high-strength steel or requiring large preloading force can be called high-strength bolt. High-strength bolts are mostly used to connect bridges, rails, high-pressure and ultra-high-pressure equipment. The fracture of this kind of bolt is mostly brittle fracture. In order to ensure the sealing of the container, the high-strength bolt used in the ultra-high pressure equipment need to be applied with larger prestressing force.

According to the stipulated performance grade of bolts above 8.8, they are called high strength bolts. Currently, the national standard only lists M39. For large size specifications, especially high strength bolts whose length is more than 10-15 times, domestic production is still short-term.
The difference between high strength bolt and common bolt is as follows:
The high strength bolt is the load that can be endured is larger than the ordinary bolt of the same specification.
The material of high strength bolt is 35 # steel or other high quality material, which is made and then heat treated to improve the strength.
